Commemoration Celebration for Howard C. Dutzi

Please plan on attending a very special event to honor one of our founding members, Howard Dutzi.  Howard was a charter member of the Pikes Peak Chapter when it was created in 1969.  He also served on the Board of Directors and was our President way back in 1971.

Howard was born on February 26, 1930 and passed away on June 17, 2022.  He enjoyed a very long and distinguished professional career as a structural engineer.  Howard originally came to the Pikes Peak Region from Chicago to work on the US Air Force Academy as an employee of Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill.  In 1961, he decided to move permanently to Colorado Springs and founded his consulting engineering firm, Howard C. Dutzi and Associates, Inc. (now HCDA Engineering Structural Consultants).

Howard and his wife, Ruth, were avid world travelers and they documented their adventures through the lens of their cameras and in their sketchpads.  Through the years, Howard and Ruth graciously shared many of their expeditions with us for our special monthly chapter events.  Those popular presentations were always enjoyable and fascinating.

Howard's life outside of the profession was just as full and diverse.  After he retired, he focused on drawing and painting and became an award-winning artist.  His talents were truly boundless.  We hope you will join us for this special occasion to honor and celebrate the legacy of Howard Dutzi.
